The Naval flag was ceremoniously hoisted on the boat in the presence of Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. This is the last, sixth submarine of Project 06363, built for the Pacific Fleet.

Thus, the contract for the construction of a series of six large diesel-electric submarines of Project 06363 for the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy has been completed between the Russian Ministry of Defense and JSC Admiralty Shipyards, which was signed on September 7, 2016 within the framework of the International Military Technical Forum Army-2016. Under the terms of the contract, the first ship was to be delivered to the customer by November 25, 2019, and the construction of the entire series was scheduled to be completed in 2022.

Previously, Admiralty Shipyards built six Project 06363 submarines for the Black Sea Fleet under contracts in 2010 and 2011, which were commissioned by the Russian Navy in 2014-2016. Project 06363 was developed by JSC TSKB MT Rubin (Saint Petersburg) and is an upgrade of projects 877 and 636.

The first two boats B-274 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and B-603 Volkhov (serial numbers 01614 and 01615, respectively) of project 06363 for the Pacific Fleet were [...] laid at Admiralty Shipyards on July 28, 2017. The B-274 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky lead submarine was launched on March 28, 2019, entered factory sea trials on August 16, 2019, and was delivered to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019.

The second B-603 Volkhov boat was launched on December 26, 2019, entered factory sea trials on July 18, 2020, and was transferred to the fleet on October 24, 2020. Since August 2021, the B-274 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and B-603 Volkhov submarines, accompanied by the new Gremyashchy corvette of Project 20385, have made an inter-fleet crossing from the Baltic Sea through the Mediterranean Sea, the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean to their base in the Pacific Fleet, arriving in Vladivostok on November 30, 2021.

The official laying of the third and fourth submarines B-602 Magadan and B-588 Ufa (factory numbers, respectively, 01616 and 01617) under this contract was carried out on November 1, 2019. The Magadan submarine was launched on March 26, 2021, entered factory sea trials on June 25, 2021, and was commissioned into the Navy on October 12, 2021. On August 6, 2022, the Magadan submarine sailed from the Baltic to the Far East, and after passing through the Baltic Straits, the North and Norwegian Seas, arrived in Polyarny, and then crossed the Northern Sea Route, arriving on October 9, 2022 at its base in Vladivostok and becoming the third submarine of Project 06363, which entered part of the Pacific Fleet.

The Ufa submarine was launched on March 31, 2022, entered factory sea trials on June 25, 2022, and was html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">commissioned into the Russian Navy on November 16, 2022. In December 2023, the Ufa boat arrived as part of the permanent formation of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, and after a 10-month stay in Tartus (Syria), on October 1, 2024, Ufa began crossing the southern route through the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean to Vladivostok, where it arrived on December 19.

On August 23, 2021, Admiralty Shipyards JSC hosted the laying ceremony of the fifth and sixth submarines B-608 Mozhaysk (serial number 01618) and B-610 Yakutsk (serial number 01619) under this contract. The Mozhaysk submarine was launched on April 27, 2023, put to sea for the first [...] time for factory sea trials on August 27, 2023, and was commissioned into the Russian Navy on November 28, 2023. To this day, this boat remains in the Baltic. On December 29, 2024, the Mozhaysk sailed to the Far East, but during the passage of the Baltic Straits on January 1, 2025, an accident occurred on the accompanying marine tugboat Sergei Balk of project 23470, and on January 11 Mozhaysk and Sergei Balk, accompanied by two more tugboats, returned to Baltiysk.

The sixth submarine Yakutsk, which completes the series for the Pacific Fleet, was launched on October 11, 2024 and is now commissioned into the Navy.

On August 25, 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract for the construction of another large submarine of project 06363 (according to preliminary data, it was named Petrozavodsk), and on August 16, 2022, a contract for the construction of three more submarines of project 06363. None of these boats have been laid yet.

In 2023, information was published that it was also planned to build a series of six large diesel-electric submarines of project 06363 for the Northern Fleet, and that "the decision on construction has already been made, but the contract has not been signed," and its implementation "will begin no earlier than 2024." The lead submarine of this type for the Northern Fleet was supposed to be named "Mariupol". There is no data on the development of these plans, and in general, the continuation of the construction of submarines under a project actually 50 years old looks like a dubious undertaking.
