The ship was named in honor of Dmitry Andreevich Glukhov (1906-1943), commander of the 1st division of patrol boats of the Black Sea Fleet, a participant in the defense of Sevastopol, who died on November 11, 1943 during the Kerch-Eltingen amphibious operation.
