The minesweeper was named in honor of Viktor Dmitrievich Korner (1912 - 1984), who received the title Hero of the Soviet Union as commander of the river monitor "Sun Yat-sen" of the Amur Military Flotilla for participating in hostilities against Japan in August 1945. Based on this, it can be assumed that the minesweeper Victor Corner is planned to be commissioned into the Pacific Fleet.
