In 2009, by decision of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the construction of the second and third ("Kronstadt" and "Sevastopol") The ships of Project 677 were suspended until the lead submarine of Project 677 B-585 "Saint Petersburg" was put into trial operation. The state contract for the resumption of construction of the B-586 Kronshtadt submarine according to the adjusted technical design was signed in July 2013.
