As reported on October 18, 2023 by PJSC United Aircraft Corporation, another heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A was manufactured and handed over to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Ulyanovsk at the branch of PJSC Il - Aviastar (part of PJSC United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec State Corporation).
The third built in 2023 at the Ulyanovsk branch of PJSC Il - Aviastar (part of PJSC United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec State Corporation) and transferred to the Russian Aerospace Forces military transport aircraft IL-76MD-90A (registration number RF-78670, presumed serial number 0305). "The new aircraft has joined the aviation regiment of military transport aviation (VTA). The plant fulfills its obligations to build aircraft as part of the 2023 production program in order to provide the VTA with modern transport vehicles that are in demand today in the military. The need for a significant increase in the Il-76MD-90A fleet, which we manufacture, was discussed during a recent visit to Aviastar by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu," said Sergey Sheremetov, Director of the Il-Aviastar branch of PJSC.
From the bmpd side, we point out that, according to available information, the third IL-76MD-90A military transport aircraft built in 2023 at the branch of PJSC Il - Aviastar (as part of the UAC) in Ulyanovsk was transferred to the Russian Aerospace Forces in this way, which has the registration number RF-78670 (assumed serial number 0305). According to known data, he made his first flight in Ulyanovsk on August 28, 2023. This is generally the 21st aircraft of this type built (including the prototype).
Earlier, on May 30, 2023, the first Il-76MD-90A aircraft manufactured in Ulyanovsk this year with registration number RF-78668 (presumed serial number 0303) was [...] transferred [...] to the Russian Aerospace Forces, and on August 11, the second aircraft with the presumed registration number RF-78669 (presumed serial number 0304) was transferred.
It is reported that on October 9, the fourth Il-76MD-90A aircraft of the 2023 production program made its first flight in Ulyanovsk.
The aircraft that has now been handed over with the alleged serial number 0305 has apparently become the fourth, built under a 2020 contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for the construction of 14 Il-76MD-90A aircraft by Aviastar until 2028. Recall that initially the construction of IL-76MD-90A aircraft at Aviastar was carried out under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense dated October 2012 for the production of 39 Il-76MD-90A units in the amount of 139.42 billion rubles. Due to the strong delay in the implementation of the contract and the increase in the actual cost of aircraft, in May 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense renegotiated a contract with Aviastar for the supply of Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft on new terms. Under the new conditions, under the old contract of 2012, the plant was now supposed to deliver a total of 13 Il-76MD-90A aircraft (the contract was eventually completed with the delivery of an aircraft with serial number 0301 in 2022), and a new contract for the supply of 14 such aircraft by 2028 was to come into force from 2021 - the first board built on it was 0302 (RF-78667), commissioned at the end of 2022.
In 2022, the Aviastar plant handed over five Il-76MD-90A aircraft to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
