Military arsenal — 2022. What weapons did the Russian army receive in the outgoing year

The number of basic weapons sent to the Russian army increased by 30%, ammunition for rocket and artillery weapons and aviation weapons - from 69 to 109%. "The level of modern technology in the strategic nuclear forces has been brought to 91.3%," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the annual final board of the military department, which was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Sergei Shoigu, in 2022, the rearmament of two missile regiments in the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) for the Yars mobile ground missile system was completed. Also, according to the Minister of Defense, another missile regiment equipped with the Avangard missile system with a hypersonic gliding cruise unit has taken up combat duty.

"Successful launches of a new heavy—class missile of the Sarmat missile complex during state tests allowed us to start work on its deployment," the head of the defense department added. 

Aviation strategic nuclear forces, according to Shoigu, were replenished with the Tu-160M strategic missile carrier and the Tu-95M bomber in 2022.

Another nuclear submarine of the Borei-A project, Generalissimo Suvorov, armed with Bulava ballistic missiles and belonging to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships, was accepted into the Navy.

One of the distinctive features of the Boreas is the ability to launch the Mace directly from under the Arctic ice. The boats of the old projects such as "Squid" and "Dolphin" needed to break through the ice with the hull and only then begin preparing for the launch of missiles. According to military experts, such a maneuver strongly unmasks the cruiser in preparation for a missile attack.

The unified space system "Dome" continues to develop in the Aerospace Forces (VKS), which has been replenished with the sixth satellite of the same name, which allows continuous monitoring of missile-hazardous areas in the Northern Hemisphere.   

Ground forces

In 2022, Uralvagonzavod handed over the latest T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks to the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the manufacturer, the T-90M tank significantly surpasses its predecessor T-90 in combat effectiveness, but at the same time retains its advantages: exceptional reliability and minimal maintenance during operation.

Also, a batch of T-80BVM tanks was transferred to the troops. As previously reported by TASS, the Omsk Plant of Transport Engineering (as part of Rostec Concern Uralvagonzavod JSC) handed over combat vehicles to the Ministry of Defense ahead of schedule as part of the execution of the state defense order.

The T-80BVM is an upgraded version of the T-80BV. The 125-millimeter cannon has been improved on the car, the gas turbine engine has been modified — its power has increased to 1,250 hp. In addition, the tank has a multi-channel gunner's sight, a driver's observation device and an armament stabilizer. The armor is reinforced with anti-cumulative lattice screens, as well as a complex of modular dynamic protection.

Uralvagonzavod also supplied the Russian Defense Ministry with upgraded T72B3M tanks equipped with new protection, which makes it possible to increase the survivability and effectiveness of the use of armored vehicles not only during combined arms combat, but also during combat operations with the massive use of anti-tank weapons.

At the same time, the Russian army continues to switch to modern multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of the Tornado family, which replace Tornadoes, outdated Hurricanes and Grads. According to Rostec, in 2022 the Motovilikhinsky Plants enterprise (part of Rostec State Corporation) sent another batch of MLRS "Tornado-G" and "Tornado-S" to the troops.

According to the manufacturer, "Tornado-G" can fire from unprepared positions in automated mode, which allows you to quickly open fire, then directly from the cockpit to transfer the artillery part of the system to the marching position and change location.

Omsk Plant of Transport Engineering (part of the Rostec Uralvagonzavod concern) in 2022 handed over to the Ministry of Defense heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek".    

"The TOS-1A is a unique modern weapon that has no foreign analogues. It can perform the necessary combat tasks in close combat, on the line of direct contact with the enemy. In Russia, these machines are in service with parts of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops, where they were able to fully assess the effectiveness of their damaging effect," Rostec said in its materials.

Also this year, Uraltransmash manufactured and supplied to the Ministry of Defense self-propelled guns 2S7M "Malka" and upgraded self-propelled howitzers 2S19M2 "Msta-S". 

According to the manufacturer, the howitzer was equipped with an automated guidance and fire control system. When bringing the ACS to the level of 2C19M2, the aiming rate of fire was improved to ten rounds per minute and the accuracy of guidance. A fire raid mode has also been introduced, which allows one gun to hit the target with five shots simultaneously, and then leave the firing position. In addition, the crew's habitability conditions have been improved. 

VKS

In 2022, dozens of samples of new, modernized and proven aircraft equipment were delivered to the Aerospace Forces. At the end of November, a branch of the Il—Aviastar enterprise of the United Aircraft Corporation manufactured and handed over another serial heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, built in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the United Aircraft Corporation has begun supplying upgraded Su-30SM2 fighters for naval aviation. The aircraft received increased combat capabilities and retained the main advantages of the Su-30SM: super maneuverability, long flight range, onboard radar with a phased array antenna, a crew of two people providing simultaneous air combat and the defeat of ground targets.

In 2022, the Russian combat aviation was replenished with the Mi-28NM "Night Hunter" attack helicopters, which have already become world-famous.

As previously reported by TASS, the upgraded Mi-28NM attack helicopter made its first flight on October 12, 2016. The appearance of the updated "Night Hunters" is significantly different from the basic version of the car. The helicopter received an overhead radar station, a new sighting and flight navigation system, an improved radar station and promising types of weapons. On June 27, 2019, Russian Helicopters Holding announced the signing of a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the supply of 98 Mi-28NM attack helicopters in 2020-2027.

Fleet

According to Sergei Shoigu, in 2022, the Russian Navy, in addition to the most modern submarine, received 6 surface ships, 3 combat boats, 11 vessels and support boats, as well as 2 coastal missile systems.

Also this year, units of the Baltic and Pacific Fleets received upgraded naval BMP-3 and a new minesweeper capable of fighting all types of mines.
