During one of the test launches, the control of the Kalibr-NK cruise missile was lost, which fell into the sea next to the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate that launched it, says The Drive, commenting on a video posted on YouTube of a "test launch of a cruise missile launch model".
The American publication called this test completely wrong. The Drive notes that the date and place of the tests shown in the video is unknown, but recalls that in April, the Russian TV channel Zvezda showed a video of a successful test of the Kalibr-NK launched by Marshal Shaposhnikov in the Sea of Japan.
The publication suggests that the" wrong "test involved a 3M-14T Kalibr-NK missile, which "was used in the past by the Russian Navy to hit ground targets during the Syrian civil war."
The Drive notes that problems with weapons testing happen quite often and Russia is not the only one that faces them. "The incident demonstrates the importance of thorough testing of weapons," the publication concludes.
In April, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the modernized frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" for the first time launched a cruise missile "Caliber". In the same month , RIA Novosti, referring to the head of the information support department of the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet, Nikolai Voskresensky, said that "Marshal Shaposhnikov" with a universal 100-millimeter A-190 artillery installation hit an "invisible" target in the Sea of Japan.
