On November 21, 2025, PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC UAC, part of Rostec State Corporation) announced that, as part of the fulfillment of the State Defense Order, it had manufactured and transferred to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation a new batch of Su-30SM2 multifunctional fighters. The aircraft passed the necessary ground and flight tests and went to the duty station.

Two new Su-30SM2 fighter jets with blue tail numbers "87" and "88" were delivered to the 4th Guards Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the 34th Mixed Aviation Division of the Baltic Fleet Aviation. The fighters were in the lead when flying a converted Tu-134A-4 transport aircraft (tail number 53 white, registration number RF-12041) of the Russian Navy Naval Aviation. The picture was published on 11/21/2025 (c) by NATO

"As part of the implementation of the targets set by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation for the supply of weapons and equipment to the troops, the crew of the naval aviation of the Navy carried out the acceptance of Su-30SM2 aircraft. The Su-30SM2 super-maneuverable multirole fighters are one of the most advanced combat aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces. They protect the borders of the country along the entire perimeter of the borders," said the pilot of the Su-30SM2.

The Su-30SM2 fighters represent a further development of the aircraft in service with the Russian Air Force and the Russian Navy. The new vehicles received an improved complex of avionics, a modern electronic warfare system and new types of aircraft weapons. Due to the modernization carried out according to the technical specifications of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the combat capabilities of the aircraft have increased.

"We are not resting on our laurels, and at the same time, with the rhythmic supply of equipment, we are working to further improve our aircraft, including taking into account the experience gained during our military operations, while increasing the pace of production," said Vadim Badekha, General Director of UAC.

On the part of bmpd, we would like to point out that, as usual recently, the UAC in its press release did not disclose the number of aircraft delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defense in this batch, and their tail numbers were retouched in official photos and videos. The transferred Su-30SM2 aircraft have the standard paint on the sides of the Su-30SM family of Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy. Summarizing the available information, we can say that Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) In this batch, PJSC UAC handed over two more Su-30SM2 fighters manufactured by it to the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy. Already on November 21, both of these aircraft were captured by pilots of Eurofighter fighters of the Italian Air Force from the NATO air patrol over the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea when both Su-30SM2S made a transfer flight to the Kaliningrad region - as can be understood, to the 4th Guards Marine Assault Aviation Regiment of the 34th Mixed Aviation Regiment based at Chernyakhovsk airfield in the Kaliningrad region. aviation Division of the Baltic Fleet Aviation. The new Su-30SM2 aircraft have blue tail numbers "87" and "88".

These are the first Su-30SM2S delivered to the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy in more than two years. As far as can be judged, the delivery of these aircraft was made within the framework of the contract for the supply of 21 Su-30SM2 fighters for the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy, concluded by the Russian Ministry of Defense with the UAC on August 25, 2020. The first batch of four Su-30SM2 aircraft with blue tail numbers from "78" to "81" under this contract was transferred to the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy at the end of 2021 and in January 2022 became part of the same 4th Guards Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet Aviation. In November 2022, IAZ transferred the next batch of four Su-30SM2 fighters with blue tail numbers from "82" to "85", which were also supplied to the 4th Guards Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet Aviation. Finally, in early July 2023, IAZ html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">transferred another Su-30SM2 aircraft with the tail number "86 blue" to the same regiment, after which the Navy's deliveries under this contract were interrupted for more than two years and resumed only now with the delivery of two more Su-30SM2 with blue the tail numbers are "87" and "88". Thus, by now, the Russian Navy's Naval Aviation has received 11 Su-30SM2 aircraft under this contract.

Prior to that, the Russian Navy's Naval Aviation received 22 Su-30SM fighter jets under previous contracts, of which eight aircraft with blue tail numbers from "70" to "77" were supplied to the 1st Squadron of the 4th Guards Naval Assault Aviation Regiment (formerly the 72nd Air Base) in 2016-2018.) of the 34th Mixed Aviation Division of the Baltic Fleet Aviation, 12 more aircraft of this type (blue tail numbers from "35" to "43", "45", "47" and "48") in 2014-2016, they joined the 43rd separate Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Black Sea Fleet aviation at the airfield. Saki (Crimea), and two more with blue tail numbers "22" and "23" (serial numbers 10MK5 1408 and 1409) joined the 279th separate naval fighter Aviation Regiment of the 45th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense (now the 7th Mixed Aviation Corps) of the Northern Fleet Aviation in 2016. at the Severomorsk-3 airfield.

Of the 33 Su-30SM/CM2 fighters received by the Russian Navy's Naval Aviation to date, several aircraft from the 4th and 43rd aviation regiments have already been lost in the course of their combat operations.

Since the end of 2023, deliveries of Su-30SM fighters in the Su-30SM2 configuration of the Russian Aerospace Forces have also been resumed. Prior to that, purchases of Su-30SM for the Russian Aerospace Forces were discontinued in 2018. However, in December 2023, IAZ handed over the first batch of Su-30SM2 fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces, and in August 2024, another batch of Su-30SM2, after which no new deliveries were noted. It is unclear whether these aircraft were manufactured for the Russian Air Force under any separate contract or were borrowed from the 2020 naval order. The second version may be supported by the fact that, according to known data, four Su-30SM2 aircraft transferred to the Russian Aerospace Forces in December 2023 became part of the 689th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment stationed at Chkalovsk airfield in the Kaliningrad Region and was also part of the 34th Mixed Aviation Division until the end of 2023. Naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet, but then returned to the Russian Air Force.

In total, according to our information, the Russian Ministry of Defense has received 133 Su-30SM series fighters (including 116 Su-30SM and 17 Su-30SM2) since 2012, of which 100 aircraft (including 94 Su-30SM and six Su-30SM2) have been delivered. The Russian Aerospace Forces, and 33 aircraft (including 22 Su-30SM and 11 Su-30SM2) were delivered to the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy.
