The Yak-130 combat training aircraft, developed by Yakovlev PJSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation UAC), is characterized by excellent maneuverability and a modern avionics complex characteristic of the latest combat aircraft.
"This August, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant will celebrate its 90th anniversary, and throughout all these years, the fulfillment of the state defense order has remained one of the key priorities of the enterprise. At the current stage, significant resources of the plant are also focused on completing tasks for the supply of Su-30SM fighters and Yak-130 combat training aircraft for the needs of the army and navy. The Yak-130 produced in Irkutsk today play an important role in the practical training of pilots of the Aerospace Forces," said Yuri Slyusar, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation.
From the bmpd side, we point out that thus, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) The UAC handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense the first batch of Yak-130 combat training aircraft it produced in 2024. As usual recently, the KLA in its press release did not disclose the number of aircraft delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defense in this batch, and their side numbers were retouched in official photos and videos.
Apparently, the newly built Yak-130 IAZ aircraft now transferred to the Russian Aerospace Forces are the fifth batch of this type of aircraft built under the contract for the supply of 25 Yak-130 vehicles for the Russian Aerospace Forces, concluded by the Russian Ministry of Defense with the UAC on August 25, 2020.
Initially, under this contract, according to known data, two batches of only two Yak-130 aircraft each were transferred to the Russian Ministry of Defense - one in December 2021 and the second in November 2022. In 2023, two batches of Yak-130 aircraft were transferred - one in July 2023 and the second in December 2023.
From 2009 to the beginning of 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense received a total of 120 Yak-130 aircraft under various contracts - of which 12 of the first two series were built at JSC Nizhny Novgorod Aviation Plant Sokol, and the rest at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.
