After the ship was taken out of the dock, it was towed to the wall of the 35th ship repair plant to continue repair work.
The withdrawal of the heavy aircraft carrier Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov project 11435 of the Russian Navy, which is under repair, from the new dry dock of the 35 Ship Repair Plant branch of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center JSC. Murmansk, 02/21/2023 (c) Lev Fedoseev / TASSRecall that "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov" was under dock repair in the new dry dock of the 35th shipyard in Murmansk from May 20, 2022.
At the same time, it was initially stated that the ship would be withdrawn from the dock in September 2022. [...]
In April 2018, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with USC to carry out medium repairs and limited modernization of the aircraft carrier Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov with completion in 2021. Since the fall of 2018, the cruiser has been located in the branch "35 ship repair Plant" of JSC "Ship Repair Center "Zvezdochka". Due to the delay in work, including the delay in rebuilding the dry dock at the 35th SRZ, in May 2021, the USC leadership named the end of 2023 as the new deadline for the transfer of the ship to the fleet after repairs. Now the head of the USC, Alexey Rakhmanov, has once again stated that "Admiral Kuznetsov of the Fleet of the Soviet Union" will be returned to the Navy in 2024.
The temporary reconstruction of the dry dock of the 35th SRZ for the Admiral Kuznetsov docking there was mostly completed in the spring of 2022. Reconstruction according to the project approved back in 2016 consisted in rebuilding two old adjacent dry docks of the plant (one 187 m long and 28 m wide at the top, and the other 236 m long and 30.8 m wide at the top, both docks are 22 m wide at the bottom) into one large dock by demolishing the partition between them. Work is also being carried out on the modernization of all structures of the hydraulic structure - walls, slipway plate, dock equipment and other things. As a result of the modernization, the second largest dry dock in Russia was created for receiving large vessels and ships, which has a length of 335 m and a width of 60 m at the bottom and 70 m at the top - the larger one is only completed by the end of 2021 at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex LLC in Bolshoy Kamen (Primorsky Krai) construction dry dock with a length of 485 m and a width of 114 m .
The implementation of the project of rebuilding the dry docks of the 35th SRZ into one large dock, which had been discussed for a long time in shipbuilding circles, became a solution with relatively moderate costs to the ridiculous situation of the complete absence of a dry dock in the Northern Fleet for docking and repairing large surface warships. The project was put into practice due to the urgent need to dock the only heavy aircraft carrier in the Russian Navy, Admiral Kuznetsov of the Fleet of the Soviet Union, primarily to complete the repair of this ship, which began in 2018, after the sinking of the PD-50 floating dock at the 82nd Shipyard on October 30, 2018.
In July 2019, the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center JSC, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC (USC), signed a contract worth 23.9 billion rubles with the St. Petersburg company Investments. Engineering. Construction" (I.I.S.) for the modernization of the dry dock of the 35th ship repair plant. The main works were planned to be completed during 2020, with the commissioning of the cruiser Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov in a new dock in June 2021. However, from the very beginning, the reconstruction began to be delayed due to disagreements between the customer and the contractor and problems with the project documentation. On March 31, 2020, USC terminated its contract with I.I.S. and in the summer of 2020, it transferred the contract for the reconstruction of the dock to a new general contractor - JSC "Orgenergostroy Institute" (Moscow, a major contractor for the complex execution of works on the construction of energy and oil and gas facilities).
However, until now, the new dock was separated from the sea area by a temporary bridge, which was demolished for the installation of the cruiser Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov in it, and now it has been demolished again for its withdrawal. After the completion of the docking of the cruiser, instead of a temporary bridge, according to the original plans, a permanent full-time bathoport (hydraulic gate) was to be installed on the dock in mid-2023, the construction of which began in 2022 at JSC "Production Association "Northern Machine-Building Enterprise" in Severodvinsk. However, the current completion dates for the new dock are unknown. Only in February 2023, the project of the second stage of reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the two-chamber dry dock at the 35th SRZ received a positive conclusion of the state expertise.
