Hong Kong. October 4. INTERFAX - Chinese television, amid rising tensions between China and the United States, has begun showing documentaries dedicated to the Day of the Formation of the People's Republic of China on October 1 about its most powerful missile weapons, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Tuesday.
At the same time, according to experts in the field of defense, such a demonstration of weapons is a warning to the United States.
In particular, the Chinese military demonstrated the DF-21D anti-ship missile, which is called the "killer of aircraft carriers", the DF-26B ballistic missile and the DF-41 intercontinental ballistic missile.
The anti-ship DF-21 has a range of approximately 1.8 thousand km, and the DF-21D variant, which can be equipped with a separable warhead, is considered the world's first ballistic anti-ship missile.
SCMP recalls that in August 2020, the missile forces of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) fired two DF-21 missiles in the South China Sea at a moving target vessel. This happened shortly after Beijing announced that an American U-2 reconnaissance aircraft entered the no-fly zone established during the PRC naval maneuvers off the northern coast of China without permission.
In turn, the DF-26 missile is capable of flying at a distance of 4 thousand km, it can be equipped with a conventional or nuclear warhead and used against both land and sea targets.
According to experts, the DF-41 missile, on which a separable head with nuclear charges can be installed, can be used at a distance of over 12 thousand km - against any target on the US mainland.
Short-range ballistic missiles DF-15 and DF-16 were also shown on television.
