A new batch of ready-made T-90M tanks ("Object 188M", OKR "Breakthrough-3") in the workshop of JSC "Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation" (UVZ, as part of JSC "Uralvagonzavod Concern" of Rostec State Corporation), Nizhny Tagil, 2022 (c) JSC "Scientific and Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod
The press release of Rostec Group says that the head of the mechanical assembly production of Uralvagonzavod, Vladimir Stoyanov, in his introductory speech noted that today special attention is paid to the Nizhny Tagil enterprise: "Foreign media once again spread the fake that Uralvagonzavod has been stopped. This means that we are not just known, but also feared! So - we are working well! On behalf of the mechanical assemblers, I assure you that we will not let you down in the future! We will continue to work for the benefit of the Russian military-industrial complex."
Uralvagonzavod, within the framework of the state defense order, supplies both new and upgraded to the level of T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks to the troops. The preparation and development of serial production of these modern armored vehicles at the enterprise has been fully completed, positive results of qualification tests have been obtained.
From the bmpd side, we point out that, judging by the video reports, a batch of ten T-90M tanks was sent from Uralvagonzavod.
Recall that at the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2017" on August 24, 2017, the Ministry of Defense of Russia signed a contract with JSC "Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation" (UVZ, as part of JSC "Uralvagonzavod Concern" of Rostec State Corporation) for the supply of the first 30 T-90M tanks ("Object 188M", OCD "Breakthrough-3"). According to published data, out of 30 T-90M tanks of this first contract, ten should be new-built vehicles, and the remaining 20 should have been converted during major repairs and modernization from T-90 tanks, however, according to other sources, all T-90M tanks should be new-built.
Under the terms of the 2017 contract, the delivery of 30 of these T-90M tanks was to be made in 2018-2019, but the actual delivery of the first 10 tanks to the Ministry of Defense as part of the tank battalion of the 1st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Guards Taman Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District was made only in April 2020 years. Another batch of T-90M tanks was delivered there in November 2020, and another batch was delivered to the Kazan Tank School at the same time.
At the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2018" on August 21, 2018, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed another contract with UVZ for the supply of 30 T-90M tanks to be upgraded from T-90 tanks and new production, with a stated delivery date in 2019. In fact, tanks under this contract were delivered in the first half of 2021, and in August 2021, the executive director of UVZ, Vladimir Roshchupkin, said that over the past period of the year, "new and upgraded to the level of T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks in the amount of 26 units were put into operation for the first time." Earlier in March 2021, it was reported that the first T-90M tanks delivered in 2021 in the amount of eight units entered the 27th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Sevastopol Red Banner Brigade of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District, stationed in the village of Mosrentgen (New Moscow).
On June 28, 2019, at the Army-2019 International Military-Technical Forum, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed another contract with UVZ for upgrading another 100 T-90A tanks to the T-90M level, and on August 24, 2021, at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum, another contract was signed with UVZ for a period of several years for the supply of T-90M tanks and for the overhaul of T-90 tanks with modernization to the level of T-90M (presumably, up to a hundred units in total).
According to known data, T-90M tanks during a special military operation in Ukraine were first used in small numbers, presumably as part of the battalion tactical group of the 27th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade from the end of April 2022 in the Kharkiv region.
