The National Interest: Russia has rebuilt the Admiral Nakhimov nuclear missile cruiser
During the repair process, Russia almost completely rebuilt the Admiral Nakhimov nuclear missile cruiser, Peter Sichiu, a columnist for The National Interest, said .
The American edition recalled that the ship, commissioned in the 1980s, has been under repair since 2013. "In fact, the repair was almost a complete overhaul of the ship. According to available data, large-scale internal work was carried out, specialists were engaged in the installation of equipment, systems and aggregates, painting and thermal insulation of the vessel," the author writes.
It is noted that the modernization of the cruiser, named in June 2021 by the Director General of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov as the most powerful ship of the Russian Navy (Navy), became possible, in particular, due to the presence of its three-dimensional computer model.
Sichiu recalls that Admiral Nakhimov will receive launchers that allow the use of Kalibr-NK, Onyx and hypersonic Zircon missiles.
In April, the American magazine The National Interest stated that "Admiral Nakhimov" may "rest in peace." The publication came to conclusions about the "death" of the cruiser, which in August last year Forbes called potentially the most powerful surface non-aircraft warship in the world, after analyzing the delays in the delivery of the cruiser to the Russian fleet.
