General Salyukov: the adoption of the BMP B-19 is planned for the near future
The Russian military will receive a new infantry fighting vehicle (BMP). Tests of the BMP B-19 with the Epoch combat module will be completed in the near future. The commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, told about the adoption of the machine in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
"Currently, various types of tests of the BMP B-19 with the Epoch combat module are continuing, the completion of which and the adoption of the BMP B-19 are planned in the near future," Salyukov said.
He noted that the B-19 received a 57 mm automatic cannon and the Kornet and Bulat guided weapons systems. This allows you to hit helicopters, armored vehicles and enemy manpower at long ranges. General Salyukov stressed that the firing capabilities of the B-19 exceed the capabilities of the serial BMP-2 and BMP-3.
In October, military expert Alexey Khlopotov noted that the ammunition in the BMP B-19 combat module was moved outside the combat compartment. According to him, this will save the life of the crew in battle.
In September, the Defence24 publication evaluated the use of the B-19 in exercises. The publication noted the set of weapons of the machine.
B-19 infantry fighting vehicles were used at the Zapad-2021 exercises. According to the scenario of maneuvers, several IFVs operated at the forefront of defense.
