MOSCOW, Dec 21 - RIA Novosti. The Eastern Military District (VVO) will receive Su-57 fighters for the first time in 2022, Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko, commander of the VVO troops, said.
"The re-equipment of the district's troops will continue next year. In particular, it is planned to receive a modernized brigade set of the Iskander tactical missile system, Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems, Mi-28NM attack helicopters and the first units of the newest Su-57 fighters," he told reporters during the final board of the Russian Defense Ministry.
He recalled that in 2021, the VVO received more than 800 units of modern weapons and military equipment. The Magadan diesel-electric submarine and Bastion coastal missile systems have been put into service, the planned re-equipment of motorized rifle formations and military units with T-80BVM tanks has begun, which during operation have proven themselves to be reliable and trouble-free weapons in difficult climatic conditions. The coastal troops of the Pacific Fleet received infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3.
The share of modern samples of equipment in the VVO has reached 56%.
"The strategic command and staff exercises "Vostok-2022" will be a key event in the preparation of the district's troops in the coming year. In total, more than 9 thousand training events have been planned for military command and control bodies, troops (forces) of the Air Defense Forces, including more than 2 thousand command and staff, tactical and tactical-special exercises. We will continue the practice of introducing the experience of modern armed conflicts into the combat training system, most tactical exercises will be conducted in a bilateral format, while creating the conditions of the situation as close as possible to real combat," the commander added.
