USC: serial equipping of ships with Zircon missiles is possible after the decision of the military
The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is ready to equip Russian ships with hypersonic Zircon missiles after a command from the military. Vladimir Korolev, Deputy Director General for Military Shipbuilding and Special Programs of JSC "USC", called the conditions of rearmament. This is reported by Interfax .
"There is an armament program that is being introduced by the General Staff. We are the performers in this program. If we are given such a command, we are ready for it," the USC representative said, answering the question about the likelihood of the start of serial arming of ships with Zircons in 2022.
Earlier, a TASS source reported that the Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles will enter service with the Russian Navy in 2025. He noted that the first full-time missile carrier will be a nuclear submarine of the Perm project 885M.
In November, the frigate Admiral Gorshkov carried out a test launch of a hypersonic missile "Zircon" in the White Sea. The missile successfully hit a target that was more than 400 kilometers away.
In early October, the commander of the Northern Fleet, Alexander Moiseev, announced the completion of the tests of the Zircon from the submarine. The commander noted that the shooting was carried out from the nuclear submarine Severodvinsk.
