MOSCOW, Nov 10 - RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the development of new weapons to focus on the main trends in the world, in particular, the use of digital technologies and hypersonic weapons.

"It is obvious that when developing a new state armament program, it is important for us to carefully take into account all the major global trends in the development of military equipment and weapons. First of all, this is the introduction of advanced information, bio-, cognitive technologies, this is an emphasis on the promotion of hypersonic complexes and weapons based on new physical principles, the latest intelligence, navigation, communications and control systems," he said at a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission via videoconference.

Among other areas that will determine the appearance and combat potential of the Russian army, the head of state also called the use of artificial intelligence and robotics, his words are quoted on the Kremlin's website.

Putin noted that in 2020, despite the restrictions due to the pandemic, the state defense order was fulfilled by 96.2%, there were "no disruptions or delays in deliveries." "As a result, the share of modern weapons and equipment in strategic nuclear forces exceeds 80%, and in general-purpose forces reaches more than 70%," he said.

The latest models of weapons entering the troops are not inferior in their characteristics, and sometimes even surpass foreign analogues, the Russian leader added. As an example, he cited the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, the Prince Vladimir nuclear missile carrier, and the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system.

Earlier, the President called the development and mass production of high-tech weapons one of the key areas of development of the Armed Forces. This, he noted, requires "time, additional efforts, finances." According to him, the creation of laser, hypersonic and kinetic weapons in the country, which has no analogues in the world, has become a real breakthrough in the field of military technologies and "significantly increased the capabilities of the Armed Forces for many years and even decades." Artificial intelligence will increase the combat characteristics of Russian developments.
