In Iran, a MiG-29 fighter destroyed a missile fired by an F-5 Tiger II aircraft. The video posted on YouTube drew attention to The Drive.
In the video, the MiG-29 aligns in the air with the F-5 Tiger II, after which the latter launches, probably, a TDU-11 target missile and goes to the right. Almost immediately after that, the first one releases a rocket from under the right wing, presumably the R-73.
The publication notes that no more than four seconds have passed between rocket launches.
The Drive recalls that the R-73 air-to-air missile is distinguished by a head with an infrared homing system, high maneuverability and the ability to track through a helmet-mounted targeting system.
In September, Defense Blog, with reference to the Bulgarian edition of Monitor, wrote that the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense may terminate the contract with the Russian Aircraft Corporation (RSC) MiG for the maintenance of MiG-29 fighters.
In July, Defense Express, referring to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, reported that the Israeli company Elbit Systems received documents from Jerusalem authorizing the modernization of Ukrainian fourth-generation MiG-29 fighters.
