The American magazine Popular Mechanics, referring to the analysis conducted by Naval News, compared the latest nuclear submarines (submarines), which are available to the US Navy (Navy) and the Russian Navy (Navy).
In the media publication, the latest American nuclear submarine is called the Virginia-type submarine of the Block V series, the Russian-the Yasen-M project submarine. The magazine writes that Russian submarines are larger and carry more missiles than American ones. Popular Mechanics also notes that the "Ash-M" gets hypersonic weapons faster than Virginia.
"The United States and Russia are probably the two dominant underwater powers on the planet," the magazine believes.
It is also noted that in the near future, the gap in hypersonic capabilities between the two countries will be significantly reduced.
In June, The Drive edition, referring to the statement of the head of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, General of the US Air Force Glen Vanherk, wrote that in terms of their capabilities, in particular, low noise, the Russian 885 Yasen project submarines are almost as good as the American ones.
In June, Business Insider wrote that the K-561 Kazan submarine of the 885M Yasen-M project, which the Russian Navy received in May, represents the culmination of more than a decade of efforts by the country to create a new and completely modern nuclear submarine with cruise missiles.
