The only Russian aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" is in poor condition, the American publication 19FortyFive states.
The publication notes that the overhaul and modernization of the ship began in 2017, but after almost half a decade, work with it has not been completed. The publication reminds that, according to the latest data, the Russian Navy (Navy) will receive "Admiral Kuznetsov" not in 2022, as previously planned, but in 2023.
19FortyFive writes that the delay in deadlines is due to several factors, in particular, delays in the supply of equipment, the accident of the PD-50 floating dock, fire and corruption .
The publication assures that serious efforts have been made in recent years to modernize the Russian Navy, but Admiral Kuznetsov still remains its "black hole". "The future of the warship has been repeatedly questioned, since Russia does not have a large enough dry dock to service the ship, but work continues, at least on paper," 19FortyFive assures.
In January, The Drive wrote that Russia should abandon its only aircraft carrier — the "cursed" Admiral Kuznetsov, focusing on building a pair of new universal landing ships.
In December 2020, the publication of the American magazine The National Interest claimed that the Admiral Kuznetsov, after repairs on the Zvezdochka ,may not demonstrate proper combat capability.
