"Pyotr Ilyichev" was laid down in July 2018: this is the sixth ship of the project 12700. The construction of minesweepers is carried out by order of the Navy.
Project 12700 was developed by engineers of the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz". "Alexandrite" is a representative of the minesweeping forces of the new generation. It can effectively detect sea mines on water and sea ground, without entering the danger zone. To combat mines, various types of trawls can be used, as well as remote-controlled and autonomous underwater vehicles.
The lead ship of the series, the Alexander Obukhov, was laid down in 2011, and it joined the Russian fleet in 2016. The displacement (full) of the project 12700 ship is 890 tons. The minesweeper is 61.6 meters long and 10.3 meters wide. The crew consists of 44 people. The autonomy of the voyage is ten days. The ship was equipped with two star-shaped 42-cylinder diesel engines M-503M1 with a capacity of 2500 horsepower each. In the bow, a 30-millimeter six-barrel automatic naval artillery installation AK-306 was placed.

In turn, the beginning of the year was marked by the launch of a new patrol ship of the project 22160 — the fourth representative of the series. According to the plans, it should be transferred to the Navy by the end of 2021: the ship will join the Black Sea Fleet. In total, the current program involves the construction of six such ships. The last of them — "Victor the Great" and "Nikolai Sipyagin" - should be transferred to the customer in 2022 and 2023.
