The Russian Defense Ministry has published a video of the surfacing of three nuclear submarines breaking through the ice. The operation was part of the Umka-21 expedition. According to the commander-in-chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov, the boats surfaced in a limited area, the radius of which was 300 meters.
It is also noted that for the first time in the history of the Russian navy, it was possible to perform a practical torpedo firing of a nuclear submarine from under the ice, followed by the equipment of a polynya at the point of ascent of the torpedo and its rise to the surface.
The video shows, presumably, submarines of the project 667BDRM and 955. The first is a third-generation strategic missile carrier, while the second is a fourth — and last-generation strategic nuclear submarine. Now these submarines are the basis of the marine component of the Russian nuclear triad.
Recently, we will remind, it became known that in Russia the production of an innovative coating for submarines of the Borey-A project starts. Its production should start in May of this year.
