As reported by the web resource Sudоstrоenie.info, JSC "Shipbuilding plant "Severnaya Verf" (part of JSC "United shipbuilding Corporation") in St. Petersburg in December 2020 was completed loading the first gas turbine engines and gearboxes of the Russian production in the bilge aft of the engine room under construction for the Russian Navy frigate "Admiral Golovko" project 22350 (serial number 923). This is stated in a story published on January 19, 2021 on the channel of the Northern Shipyard shipbuilding enterprise on the Youtube videoservice .

Loading of the main gas turbine unit M90FR produced by PJSC UEC-Saturn on the project 22350 Admiral Golovko frigate under construction for the Russian Navy (factory number 923) at PJSC Severnaya Verf Shipbuilding Plant. Saint Petersburg, December 2020; (C) a frame from the video of PAO "Shipbuilding plant "Severnaya Verf"

It is reported that to carry out a technologically complex operation, employees of the slipway shop of the Northern Shipyard dismantled three decks with bulkheads. In the resulting opening, the turbines were first immersed, then the gearboxes. For loading the latter, a floating crane with a large load capacity was used. After loading, the alignment and installation of the gas turbine unit will be carried out for several months, according to the video.

Recall, "Admiral Golovko" is the third frigate of the project 22350 and the first ship of this project with a fully domestic diesel-gas turbine power plant. On the first two frigates of the project 22350 - "Admiral Gorshkov "(commissioned in 2018) and" Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov "(commissioned in 2020) - gas turbine units of the Ukrainian enterprise"Zorya - Mashproekt" were used as afterburners.

Starting from the third hull, the Project 22350 frigates will use M90FR gas turbine engines manufactured by UEC - Saturn. Diesel engines 10D49 of the Kolomna plant are installed on the ships as marching engines. The RO55 gearboxes are supplied by the Zvezda plant.

The Admiral Golovko frigate was laid down on February 1, 2012, and launched on May 22, 2020. The project developer is Severnoye PKB.

From the bmpd recall that, as previously reported by our blog, the first sudokomplekt consisting of two diesel-gas-turbine units М55Р fully Russian production manufactured by JSC "ODK-Saturn" and delivered at the Northern shipyard in November-December 2020, was originally designed for the construction for the Russian Navy on PAO "Shipbuilding plant "Severnaya Verf" (St. Petersburg) the fourth frigate of project 22350 "Admiral of the fleet of the Soviet Union Isakov" with serial number 924, which is currently still in an Assembly phase of construction. At the same time, it was planned that the M55R diesel-gas turbine units for the third frigate of the project 22350 "Admiral Golovko" with the factory number 923, launched on May 22, 2020, will be delivered to UEC-Saturn as follows. This is due to the peculiarity of the renegotiation of contracts for the production of ship units after the Ukrainian crisis in 2014 and the refusal of the Nikolaev State Enterprise NPKG "Zorya" - "Mashproekt" to supply M90F gas turbine engines and RO55 reducers for the project 22350 frigates under construction in Russia. It was reported that the formal supplier of diesel-gas turbine units M55R for the frigate with the factory number 923 was still listed as a Russian - Ukrainian joint venture CJSC Turborus, created at one time with the participation of NPO Saturn and SE NPKG "Zorya"-"Mashproekt", which currently, apparently, already exists purely nominally.

However, in the end, the USC management still decided to install the first ship set consisting of two M55R diesel-gas turbine units entirely of Russian production on the already launched third frigate of the project 22350 "Admiral Golovko" with the factory number 923-apparently, fearing its transformation into another long-term construction.

The Nikolaev GP NPKG "Zorya" - "Mashproekt" acted as the developer and manufacturer of M90F gas turbine engines and RO55 gearboxes for the first two frigates of the project 22350 "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" and "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" with factory numbers 921 and 922, currently in service with the Russian Navy.
