According to the data provided, the third carrier of the Poseidon nuclear torpedo will be part of the Russian fleet until 2027. It will be the first submarine initially equipped with this complex.
A knowledgeable source in the shipbuilding industry told TASS about the timing of the transfer of the third carrier of the Poseidon nuclear torpedo to the Russian Navy. According to him, the nuclear submarine of special purpose "Ulyanovsk" project 09853 will be transferred The Navy under the current state armament program until 2027.
The fleet will receive the ship along with underwater vehicles, which by then will have completed state tests. Thus, the submarine will become the first Poseidon carrier boat, which will be handed over as a single complex.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that shipbuilders are already completing the creation of the submarine hull. It is planned to start its hydraulic testing very soon.
The nuclear submarine "Ulyanovsk" was laid on the "Sevmash" in 2017. It is similar to the second carrier of the autonomous underwater complex "Poseidon" - the submarine" Khabarovsk", which belongs to the project 09851. The difference of the new submarine is in the use of more modern systems and mechanisms.
Recall, according to previously submitted information, the withdrawal of "Khabarovsk" from the boathouse should take place in the first half of 2021. The very first Poseidon carrier submarine, the Project 09852 Belgorod submarine, was launched on April 23, 2019. Its transfer to the fleet is scheduled for this year.
So far, relatively little is known about it. In 2019, the portal Covert Shores, which specializes in naval issues, drew attention to a photo that supposedly shows the new Russian nuclear submarine "Belgorod". The image shows the full profile of the submarine above the waterline.

The submarine was originally built as an Antey-class nuclear-powered submarine. After the re-order, not only the purpose of the submarine has changed, but also its appearance: now "Belgorod" is the longest of all submarines (in this indicator, it surpasses even the famous "Shark"). "Khabarovsk", according to available data, will be much smaller than the first carrier "Poseidon".
The combat complex itself is an unmanned underwater vehicle equipped with a nuclear power plant. Its main task is to deliver nuclear ammunition to the shores of a possible enemy. The appearance of "Poseidon" was presented back in 2018.
