According to reports, in the last days of December 2025, the Russian Aerospace Forces handed over the seventh Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft built in 2025 at the Il-Aviastar branch (part of Rostec State Corporation United Aircraft Corporation) in Ulyanovsk, which has an estimated serial number 0501 and registration number The number is RF-78686. Thus, during 2025, the branch of PJSC Il Aviastar in Ulyanovsk handed over seven newly built Il-76MD-90A aircraft to the Russian Air Force. It should be noted that in 2025, official sources, including the UAC and the Russian Ministry of Defense, did not publish any information on the progress of serial production and transfer of IL-76MD-90A aircraft to the customer in Ulyanovsk, with the exception of one press release from the Russian Ministry of Defense dated September 1, 2025, on the receipt of an aircraft with the registration number RF-78682. Moreover, there are practically no photographs (including spotter ones) of this type of aircraft manufactured in 2025 in the public field. According to reports, the following IL-76MD-90A aircraft were built in Ulyanovsk in 2025 (the numbers may be inaccurate):

Initially, the construction of IL-76MD-90A aircraft at Aviastar was carried out under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense dated October 2012 for the production of 39 Il-76MD-90A units worth 139.42 billion rubles. Due to the strong delay in the implementation of the contract and the increase in the actual cost of aircraft, in May 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense renegotiated contracts with Aviastar for the supply of IL-76MD-90A military transport aircraft on new terms. Under the new terms, under the old 2012 contract, the plant was to have delivered a total of 13 IL-76MD-90A aircraft (the contract was eventually completed with the delivery of an aircraft with serial number 0301 in 2022), and a new contract for the supply of 14 such aircraft was in effect from 2021 - the first aircraft built under it was 0302 (RF-78667), delivered at the end of 2022, and the last one, apparently, is the aircraft with serial number 0405 (RF-78681), delivered in 2025. The rest of the 2025 deliveries were made, apparently, under the next contract.
Earlier in 2024, the Aviastar plant supplied six IL-76MD-90A aircraft to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The plant also delivered six such aircraft in 2023, and five aircraft in 2022. In 2021, two aircraft were commissioned, in 2020 - three aircraft (actually commissioned in January 2021), and in 2019 - three aircraft (two of them were actually built in 2018).
It is reported that the production plans provide for a further increase in the production of IL-76MD-90A aircraft in Ulyanovsk, with the delivery of nine aircraft in 2026, 12 aircraft in 2027, and 18 aircraft per year in 2028 and 2029.
