The 38th Scientific Research Testing Institute of the Order of the October Revolution, the Red Banner Institute of Armored Vehicles named after Marshal of the Armored Forces Fedorenko Ya. N., also called for short the NIII BT of the Ministry of Defense, has completed comparative tests of the American infantry fighting vehicle Bradley M2A2 ODS SA, taken on the battlefield in the zone of its own as a trophy.
According to the published results, the Bradley M2A2 ODS SA infantry fighting vehicles supplied by the Americans have superiority over the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle used by the Russian Armed Forces in terms of the main parameters: anti-shell, bulletproof and mine resistance, which is achieved by the design of the vehicle. The mine protection of the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle is better due to the installation of two sheets of steel and aluminum on the bottom, a mine mat and shock-absorbing landing chairs. The BMP-3 has bulletproof protection, while the Bradley BMP holds 30 mm shells.
In terms of firepower: The 25 mm M242 automatic cannon surpasses the 30 mm 2A42 and 2A72 automatic cannons, has greater accuracy and range of actual fire, as well as armor penetration.
