British Rear Admiral Perry threatened to destroy 40 cities of the Russian Federation

Britain is threatening Russia with nuclear submarines with a scandalous reputation. We are talking about Vanguard-type nuclear submarines armed with Trident intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

Chris Perry, a retired rear admiral of the Royal Navy, said Russia would not be able to defend itself against a massive ICBM strike.

One submarine with Trident missiles is capable of incinerating 40 Russian cities very quickly. This should make any world leader afraid.

At the same time, it is noted that the British nuclear fleet raises concerns. For example, Vanguard-class submarines have been around for more than a quarter of a century, and two recent tests have failed.

In total, the UK has four Vanguard—class nuclear submarines - HMS Victorious, HMS Vanguard, HMS Vigilant and HMS Vengeance. All of them are armed with Trident ICBMs capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Britain wanted to use nuclear weapons against Russia without US permission

A senior representative of the British Navy, whom the Daily Express does not name, said that Britain's nuclear deterrent forces are "completely independent" and do not depend on Washington's position.

It is noted that there is growing concern in London about the possible vulnerability of the country due to changes in the policy of the White House. In Britain, the military believes that this may complicate the effective use of nuclear capabilities to deter "Russian aggression in Europe."

According to the Continuous Maritime Deterrence (CASD) plan, the UK maintains at least one nuclear submarine on alert at all times. She is at sea awaiting a possible order to use nuclear weapons.

At the same time, Brandon Weichert, a columnist for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI), said that Britain's nuclear deterrence does not work without the participation of the United States. He clarified that the British nuclear deterrent relies solely on the American Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) technology developed by defense contractor Lockheed Martin.

The British submarine was nicknamed "Her Majesty's Sex and Cocaine"

HMS Vigilant has been dubbed "Her Majesty's Sex and Cocaine" in the media due to a string of scandals involving office romance, drug parties, prostitutes, and even porn filming.

In early October 2017, the captain of the submarine was dismissed from his post due to an affair with a subordinate, since the British Navy has a so-called ban on touching, which implies the inadmissibility of romantic relationships between team members. At the same time, the command takes a particularly tough position in cases where officers are involved in a scandal.

At the end of the same month, the submarine's crew was tested for drugs, and several sailors were fired due to a failed test. One of them was caught having sex with a prostitute in a swimming pool when the submarine was on a mission off the coast of the United States.

In 2020, part of the crew of the same submarine went to American bars and strip clubs during the repair of the Trident II rocket. As a result, 35 sailors became infected with coronavirus. In 2024, the captain of the submarine was fired for filming porn on duty.

The problems of British nuclear submarines are revealed

British nuclear submarines are in need of repair, but are experiencing maintenance problems. So, according to the NIS website, it took 7.5 years to carry out technical work on one of the submarines instead of the planned three years. In addition, the cost of the work is also increasing: initially the budget was 200 million pounds (almost two billion rubles), and eventually reached more than 500 million pounds (54.8 billion rubles).

There have been several incidents in recent years, for example, one submarine almost sank due to a malfunction of one of the depth gauges, and another [...] caught fire.

According to the requirements of the nuclear deterrence policy, at least one of the four nuclear submarines of the Royal Navy must be at sea. In this regard, long repairs lead to the fact that operating submarines are at sea longer than usual. According to the data uk/news/31295918/nuclear-submarine-food-low-sweets/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Sun, one submarine had to patrol for more than six months. They tried to raise the morale of the crew with Haribo marmalade. At the same time, the publication notes that there were problems with security, and in order for the sailors to save energy, they were sent to sleep in their free time.

Upon his return, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer even boarded it, before him, prime ministers had not done this for 12 years, Sky News writes. The publication suggested that the appearance of details and photos in the media is not accidental — it is a signal to Moscow that the UK remains a nuclear power.
