The new navigation modules allow the drone to navigate not only by satellites, but also by mobile base stations.
The production of key components for UAVs has been launched in Russia, sources in the military-industrial complex told Izvestia. This will allow us to quickly supply components to customers without complex logistics chains, simplify and speed up the assembly of drones. Thanks to this, we will remove a huge share of the dependence of the entire domestic production of smart electronics for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on supplies from Southeast Asia, experts say. What exactly the specialists have created and how these developments will help our soldiers in the combat zone can be found in the Izvestia article.
Key components for Russian-made UAVs
Russia has launched the first large-scale production of key components for UAVS, which has no domestic analogues. A source in the defense industry told Izvestia about this. This will allow us to quickly supply components to customers without complex logistics chains, simplify and speed up the assembly of UAVs.
— One of Rostec's enterprises has mastered the production of navigation modules and controllers for engines of various capacities. Flight controllers for small UAVs are on the way. All these are completely domestic developments, a worthy replacement for imported "stuffing". This is exactly the import substitution that we have been waiting for," the source said.
The Rostec press service confirmed the information to Izvestia and added: "We have our own developments that have been completed and put into mass production in a short time. The relevance does not need to be explained, the country's need for such products is very high. Thanks to engineering solutions, products can be integrated into the design of drones from different manufacturers as quickly as possible."

Another interlocutor at Rostec, familiar with the details of the project, said that production is carried out at the facilities of the subsidiary holding company Roselektronika.
— The company's specialists have created a navigation module that ensures high accuracy of the drone's positioning in the air and allows it to navigate both by satellites and by ground—based mobile communication base stations, - an employee of the company told Izvestia.
Different types of engine controllers are also being produced now — for UAVs with a payload capacity of up to 10 kg and up to 25 kg, the source said. They can be integrated into the design of not only aerial, but also land or sea drones. A flight controller has also been developed for small UAVs. The device can operate in harsh operating conditions — it provides triple redundancy of the main elements of telemetry and sensors.
How will import substitution affect the creation of drones
Drones have become an indispensable tool during a special military operation, military expert Alexei Leonkov said in an interview with Izvestia.
"Our fighters on the line of contact now need drones in large numbers," he said. — Moreover, both reconnaissance UAVs and shock, repeaters, kamikaze drones. And they all have key nodes. Our fighters made something for them on the line of combat with the help of 3D printers. But larger and more difficult-to-assemble drones, in particular scouts, which issue target indications to our firepower, require a more serious approach. Therefore, the launch of Rostec into mass production of the main components of domestic components for UAVs is a necessary measure.
In addition, drones are now being delivered not only to the line of contact, but also to the troops, the expert said.

— At the board of the Ministry of Defense, which was held at the end of last year, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief instructed to create a separate branch of the armed forces associated with unmanned aerial vehicles and robotic complexes. This means that soon the need for drones will become even higher, because there will be units that will need a large number of UAVs," he explained.
The release of our own universal navigation platform, which will take into account both satellite navigation systems and cellular base stations, is what we have been waiting for for more than 10 years. Dmitry Kornev, a military expert, told Izvestia about this.
— Its main consumers will be manufacturers of serious weapons systems, that is, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and any navigation systems for the armed forces. Manufacturers of domestic UAVs are also expecting this platform, which will have completely different capabilities. And we will remove a huge share of the dependence of the entire domestic production of smart electronics for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on supplies from Southeast Asia," he summed up.
A complex for protecting residential areas and industrial facilities from UAVs
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that the integrated zonal radar protection against drones, developed by the Chelyabinsk radio plant Polet (part of the AIS holding company of the Rostec state Corporation), was successfully tested at mass city events. This was reported to Izvestia by Rostec State Corporation.
The novelty is able to cover an area of several square kilometers. It is based on the Sphere drone detection and suppression system.

It has already proven its effectiveness on the line of combat contact in the zone of its own. The equipment installed on the car neutralized more than 10 enemy combat drones, which is confirmed by extracts from the combat log.
Last November, the Sphere-MB complex was tested at the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The military department has included it in the register of recommended products that effectively counteract UAVs.
