Over the next seven years, the share of machine tool imports in Russia should be reduced to less than 50%, including through the construction of new Russian production facilities. This was announced during the discussion at the X International Forum "Technoprom-2023" by Alexander Nazarov, Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation. Representatives of Rostec enterprises, relevant ministries and departments, as well as higher educational institutions discussed at the plenary session what will help the Russian machine tool industry to withstand global challenges and master new promising markets.
The machine tool industry is currently one of the key components of the technological sovereignty of the country. In Russia, this industry is represented by the largest domestic machine tool manufacturer, the STAN Group, which operates under the management of RT-Capital, a Rostec company. The machines produced by the holding are extremely in demand in the aviation industry, the industry of conventional weapons, ammunition and special chemicals, therefore, the largest enterprises of the State Corporation – UAC, UEC, Russian Helicopters, Uralvagonzavod - are the customers of the mill.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the consumption of machine-tool products in the country by 2030 will grow 1.5 times and exceed 60 thousand units. The industry faces the task of meeting this demand by reducing dependence on imports in the consumption of machine tool products as much as possible.
"Now foreign machines account for up to 75% of the total supply volumes, by 2030 the share of imports should be less than half. The CAMP is actively involved in solving this state task. In the near future, the company should ensure maximum utilization of its capacities and significantly increase its own production, primarily of flagship models of CNC machines that are most in demand by the market. This requires new large-scale production facilities. Today we are working on the possibility of launching them together with the authorities of the Moscow region, the Ivanovo Region, and the Republic of Bashkortostan," said Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
As part of the import substitution program, the MILL concentrated on developing its own components and assemblies. The result is already there: for example, frames, cabinet fences and conveyors for high–precision machines are produced at the holding plant in Sterlitamak, and milling and two-axis machining heads are produced at the plant in Kolomna. Part of the elements for the production of machine tools is planned to be made in cooperation with domestic manufacturers of components, building a so-called ecosystem of suppliers. In addition, international economically beneficial cooperation with friendly countries is developing. And since 2027, the MILL plans to master new market segments for itself through the production of new machine models.
In parallel, Rostec is working on the development of new technologies. Centers of additive and robotic technologies operate in the contour of the State Corporation, as well as the technology of additive production is being developed by Izhevsk Research Institute "Progress".
The X International Forum of Technological Development "Technoprom-2023" is the largest technological event in Russia, the main purpose of which is to promote domestic scientific developments and innovations. The event takes place in Novosibirsk from 22 to 25 August. The forum is held within the framework of the federal project "Popularization of Science and Technology" with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Government of the Novosibirsk region.
