The submarine has already become the seventh ship of Project 955 and the fourth of Project 955A (09552) "Borey-A". The official ceremony of laying the submarine "Emperor Alexander III" on the Sevmash slipway took place on December 18, 2015 under the factory number 207.
It is planned that the PKK CH will become part of the 25th Submarine Division (Krasheninnikov Bay, Kamchatka Peninsula) of the Pacific Fleet at the end of 2023.

Under water, the Emperor Alexander III develops a speed of 29 knots and is able to dive to a depth of 480 meters. The crew of the ship is 107 people (including 55 officers).
The PKK SN project 955A is armed with intercontinental ballistic missiles "Bulava" (16 SLBMs). The R-30 "Bulava" (SS-NX-30), according to various sources, is capable of carrying from 6 to 10 individual guidance nuclear units, which have the ability to maneuver along the course and altitude. The firing range of the R-30 significantly exceeds 8 thousand km.
In addition to missiles, the boat has six bow 533-mm torpedo tubes (maximum ammunition of 40 torpedoes, rocket-torpedoes or self-transporting mines). Torpedoes USET-80 and UGST, missiles PKK-6M "Waterfall" can be used from the side of the boat.
There are also six disposable non-rechargeable 533-mm RAPS-324 "Barrier" launchers for launching sonar countermeasures, which are located in the superstructure (similar to the boats of project 971). Ammunition - six self-propelled hydroacoustic countermeasures devices: MG-104 "Throw" or MG-114 "Beryl".

The process of generational change of nuclear submarines with ballistic missiles is gaining momentum in the United States. Currently, the only type of strategic missile carriers in service with the US Navy is 14 Ohio-class nuclear submarines built in the 1980s and 1990s. In the near future, they should be replaced by 12 Columbia-class submarines.

The missile submarines of the Borey and Borey-A projects will form the basis of the grouping of the strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Navy in the near future.
