Putin: construction of four nuclear submarines will ensure Russia's security for years to comeMOSCOW, Dec 29 — RIA Novosti.
Four more nuclear submarines will be built in Russia in the near future, President Vladimir Putin said.
The Head of State took part in the ceremony of the acceptance of new ships into the Navy and the launching of the nuclear submarine "Emperor Alexander III" via video link.
"I would like to note that four more such submarines will be built within the framework of the current state armament program. That will ensure Russia's security for decades to come," he said.
The nuclear-powered missile carriers under construction and being designed have no analogues in the world in many characteristics, and the new underwater and surface ships have modern navigation, communication and sonar systems, are equipped with high-precision weapons and robotic complexes, Putin added.
"So, Generalissimo Suvorov is armed with Bulava ballistic missiles, which significantly increase the capabilities of our nuclear naval forces," he said.
Another new generation project is the small Grad rocket ship. According to the head of state, ships of this class have shown high efficiency in solving combat tasks in Syria and during a special military operation in Ukraine.
The President stressed that Russia will increase the pace and volume of construction of warships, equip them with the most modern weapons, conduct operational and combat training of sailors, taking into account the experience gained, including during the special operation.
Today, shipyards in Severodvinsk, Baltiysk and Vladivostok are handing over to the fleet the nuclear submarine Generalissimo Suvorov, the small rocket ship Grad and the minesweeper Anatoly Shlemov.
Generalissimo Suvorov and Emperor Alexander III are the sixth and seventh missile carriers of the Borei-A family. They are capable of carrying 16 intercontinental ballistic missiles "Bulava". Generalissimo Suvorov successfully completed state tests and joined the Pacific Fleet. Sea trials of the "Emperor Alexander III" are scheduled for June next year.
The Grad small rocket ship is the tenth in a series of 12 ships of the Buyan-M project. It will strengthen the connection of missile ships of the Baltic Fleet. Anatoly Shlemov belongs to a new generation of mine defense ships, this is the seventh minesweeper of the 12700 project.
