The Royal Navy of great Britain received another multi-purpose nuclear submarine Anson (Anson) type Astute ("Astute"). The ceremony was held at the shipyard of the company BAE Systems in barrow-in-Furness in the presence still of Prime Minister Boris Johnson and defence Secretary Ben Wallace.
HMS Anson S123 - fifth submarine type Astute included in the British Navy. Laid on 13 October 2011, launched on April 21, 2021, after which he completed afloat. The long building is connected with the revision of the contract. Only the British Navy expects to receive seven multi-purpose submarines of this type, which will replace the three nuclear submarines of the "Trafalgar", the remaining part of the Royal Navy.
The first four submarines of the series already serve. Head HMS Astute, which gave the name to the whole series, included the combat strength in November 2010. The second HMS Ambush - March 1, 2013, the third HMS Artful - March 18, 2016. Fourth submarine HMS Audacious adopted may 14, 2020.
Submarines designed for operations in the Navy, and in isolation from the main forces. Submarines can be used to perform tasks of combat ships and submarines of the enemy, the attack ground targets, to disembark groups of frogmen and intelligence gathering.
Displacement – 7400 tons, a hull length 97 meters. Speed under water up to 29 knots. Working depth is 300 metres away. Armament – six 533-mm torpedo launchers, and cruise missiles "Tomahawk" and anti-ship missiles "Harpoon".
