The warships of the Northern Fleet "Peter the Great" and "Admiral Ushakov" together with aviation worked out the search and destruction of submarines of a conditional enemy in the Barents Sea as part of the exercises. This is reported by the press service of the fleet.
"As part of the exercise taking place in the Northern Fleet with a grouping of heterogeneous strike forces, the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Peter the Great and the destroyer Admiral Ushakov as part of the detachment worked out tasks to search for submarines of a conditional enemy in the Barents Sea," the report says.
The press service clarified that the ships worked out training tasks together with Il-38 aircraft and Ka-27 helicopters of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Northern Fleet.
Also, as part of the exercises, practical anti-aircraft missile firing was carried out, which the crews of the Peter the Great and the destroyer Admiral Ushakov carried out on target missiles, successfully hitting them.
Planned exercises with a grouping of heterogeneous strike forces to resolve crisis situations in the Arctic started at the Northern Fleet on August 17.
They involve more than 10 surface ships and submarines, as well as aviation and air defense units of the 45th Army Air Force and Air Defense.
In July, the Northern Fleet also held exercises in which the small anti-submarine ships of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation "Junga" and "Brest" took part. It was reported that during the exercises, the sailors work out elements of joint maneuvering of ships and conduct training in the fight for survivability on the ship's course. It was clarified that the ships of this class are designed to protect the water area and combat submarines in the near sea zone.
