Su-30SM ZVO fighters intercepted a simulated enemy reconnaissance aircraft during exercises
The Russian Su-30SM was lifted into the air to intercept a simulated enemy reconnaissance aircraft. As part of the exercise, the crews of the aviation regiment of the Western Military District (ZVO) performed actions to forcibly land the aircraft. This was reported in the press service of the ZVO.
"The reconnaissance aircraft was promptly detected and identified by ground-based radio-technical means of the district's air defense. A pair of Su-30SM on duty was raised to intercept the "intruder" in a matter of minutes from one of the airfields of the Military—Industrial Complex," Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev was quoted in the press service of the commander of the Military-industrial Complex troops.
It is noted that the Su-30SM crews occupied the search area and found the target. After that, the pilots worked out the actions for the forced landing of a reconnaissance aircraft of a conditional enemy.
The upgraded version of the two-seat multi-purpose fighter received thrust vector-controlled engines and a new radar station. The aircraft can simultaneously escort up to 15 targets.
In January, the publication Military Watch included the Su-30SM among the most dangerous aircraft in Europe. The publication noted the maximum flight range of Russian aircraft.
