KALININGRAD, February 21. /tass/. Gunners of the Army Corps of the Baltic Fleet (BF) in the Kaliningrad region, during exercises at one of the ranges, conducted live firing from 152-mm Hyacinth guns at a range of more than 20 km. This was reported by the press service of the BF.
"Combat firing from large-caliber Hyacinth cannons was carried out on full-size targets simulating military equipment and engineering structures of a simulated enemy," the press service noted, adding that the gunners completed a total of more than 20 firing tasks from closed firing positions to hit command posts, air defense facilities, concentrations of military equipment and manpower of a simulated enemy at a distance of 20 km or more, successfully hitting them.
The coordinates of the targets were transmitted in real time from unmanned aerial vehicles and intelligence, control and communication complexes to the artillery control point, which were also involved in the exercises.
In addition, as noted in the BF, the gunners alerted during the march on regular equipment to the task area worked out tactics to counter the sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the conditional enemy, overcoming infected areas and remotely installed minefields.
More than 200 servicemen of artillery units of the Army corps of the Fleet took part in the exercises, more than 30 units of military and special equipment were involved.
"Hyacinth" is a Soviet 152-mm towed cannon, refers to large-caliber artillery, and is designed to suppress and destroy enemy manpower, firepower and military equipment on the march, in concentration areas and in strong points. The gun can be used in various weather and climatic conditions. The caliber is 152 mm, the maximum firing range is more than 30 km, the rate of fire is 6 rounds per minute.
