The Ukrainian Research Institute of IS VVT has completed tests of the complex with Barrier-V missiles for the Mi-8MSB-V
Tests of the Ukrainian complex with Barrier-B missiles for helicopters have been completed. Specialists of the State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Weapons and Military Equipment (GNII IS VVT) performed more than 30 missile launches. This is reported by Defense Express with reference to the press service of the Institute.
The prototype of the 524R complex was tested as part of the Mi-8MSB-V helicopter. During the testing of the complex, the test team of the GNII IS VVT carried out launches of the RK-2B anti-tank missile system (ATGM) missiles "Barrier-B" from a distance of more than 6.5 kilometers. The press service noted that the product meets the customer's requirements.
Tests of the complex started in 2017. The new weapon system includes the PM-LKT sighting station, onboard equipment and R-2B missiles. The upgraded Mi-8MSB-V helicopter became the carrier of the ATGM.
The Barrier-B ATGM for helicopters was developed on the basis of the Barrier transport complex. The air-based system differs from the basic version by an elongated missile. The maximum firing range is 7.5 kilometers.
In September, the Defense Express edition reported that the Ukrainian company is preparing the production of fuselage parts for the MSB-2 and MSB-8 helicopters.
In April, Oleg Korostelev, the head of the Kiev State Design Bureau (GKKB) "Luch", said that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine does not finance the testing of guided weapons systems.
