19FortyFive: Russian submarines will receive hypersonic missiles before American ones
Nuclear submarines of the Virginia type of the Block V variant of the US Navy (Navy) are comparable to Russian submarines of the Yasen-M project, writes the American publication 19FortyFive.
The publication claims that the Virginia-class submarine of the Block V variant will become the most powerful submarine of the US Navy, and possibly "the best submarine of all time." In particular, the Virginia Block V is distinguished by extremely low sonar visibility and an improved control system.
Meanwhile, according to the publication, the submarines of the Yasen-M project receive hypersonic missiles earlier than the Virginia-type submarines of the Block V variant. "The Americans are far behind, since the Block V will receive the earliest hypersonic submarine-based weapons at the end of the decade," the publication says.
In January, The National Interest columnist Caleb Larson said that the K-560 Severodvinsk submarine of the 885 Yasen project remains the most advanced submarine of the Russian Navy.
In December 2021, a salvo launch of hypersonic missiles "Zircon" took place in Russia.
