Rostov-on-Don. The 14th of February. INTERFAX-SOUTH - More than 30 Mi-8AMTSh transport and assault helicopters are involved in bilateral company tactical exercises in the south of Russia, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.
The exercises are held with reinforced companies from the battalion tactical groups of combined arms armies, the Caspian Flotilla and the Army Corps of the Southern Military District.
"During the exercises, the tactic of "vertical coverage" is used, which involves the transfer of motorized rifle units by helicopters in order to bind and deprive the conditional enemy of maneuver to ensure the subsequent actions of the main shock group of troops. Combat support is provided by attack helicopters Mi-35, Mi-28N "Night Hunter", Ka-52 "Alligator", - said in a statement.
It is noted that during the exercise, increased attention is paid to working out the actions of military personnel when moving to the battlefield, masking and engineering equipment of positions, overcoming mine-explosive barriers.
At the stage of the active phase of the exercises, the servicemen will perform live firing from tanks, mortars and small arms. For these purposes, over 100 different targets were equipped on the ground, simulating the equipment and infantry of a conditional enemy.
The exercises are held in the Volgograd Region, Stavropol, Adygea, Chechnya, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, as well as at military bases in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
In addition, the exercises involved T-72B3 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3, armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, anti-tank missile systems "Kornet" and "Sturm-S", "Chrysanthemum-S", various artillery installations and small arms, as well as combat helicopters Ka-52, Mi-28N, Mi-35, equipped with anti-tank guided missiles "Attack" and "Whirlwind".
