Izvestia: in Russia, the training of the crew of the Admiral Nakhimov TARKR will begin before the end of the year
In Russia, they will begin to form a crew for the Admiral Nakhimov heavy nuclear missile cruiser (TARKR) of Project 1144.2M "Orlan". According to the training plan, the training of the ship's personnel will begin before the end of the year. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to sources in the military department.
Sources of the publication reported that the staffing and organizational structure of the crew of the TARKR, which was previously called the most powerful ship of the Russian Navy, has already been approved. The crew of about a thousand people will be formed from specialists from the Northern, Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific fleets.
According to the former chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral Valentin Selivanov, after modernization, Admiral Nakhimov will be able to effectively resist enemy aircraft carrier formations.
The Admiral Nakhimov TARKR joined the fleet in 1988, and since 1999 the ship has been under repair. In 2013, it was decided to modernize the ship, which received universal ship shooting complexes (UKSK). This allows the cruiser to use the missiles "Zircon", "Caliber" and "Onyx". Also, the armament of the modernized ship included the air defense complex "Poliment-Redut".
In January, it became known that Russia recommended adopting a hypersonic missile "Zircon". The decision was made based on the results of ammunition tests.
In April, The National Interest magazine commented on the delays in the delivery of Admiral Nakhimov. The publication noted that the work on the ship was to be completed in 2018.
