Moscow. February 7. INTERFAX - More than 20 Russian ships, including carriers of high-precision missile weapons, made the transition from the Sea of Japan to the Sea of Okhotsk as part of the exercises, the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported on Monday.
"A detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet proceeded through the ice fields in the area of the Laperouse Strait to the Sea of Okhotsk," the press service of the VVO said in a statement.
More than 20 warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet are involved in the exercises. Among them are the corvettes "Thundering", "Perfect", "Loud" and "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov", the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov", the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Panteleev", the control ship "Marshal Krylov", as well as small missile and small anti-submarine ships, minesweepers and missile boats.
The Russian military has published a video showing ships crossing from the Sea of Japan to the Sea of Okhotsk over an area with a difficult ice situation.
"The passage of a detachment of ships through the ice fields took two days. Pilots of Ka-27PS deck helicopters of the Pacific Fleet naval aviation carried out air control over the ice situation along the route of ships and vessels. The icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov provided the escort of warships through the ice fields," the message of the Air Defense Ministry says.
On January 20, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the beginning of a series of maneuvers of the Navy with the participation of more than 140 ships and vessels, over 10 thousand military.
