The formations of the Central Military District (CVO) will receive more than 50 BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles with the Berezhok combat module. The cars will be delivered by the end of 2022. "By the end of this year, a batch of more than fifty upgraded BMP-2 equipped with the Berezhok combat module will be delivered to the troops of the military district in the Volga region," Lapin said.
The commander of the Central Military District troops noted that the upgraded vehicle received a new set of weapons and sighting devices. This increased the combat characteristics of the machine.
The habitable two-seat combat module is a standard BMP-2 turret with a new set of weapons. Berezhok received a combined gunner's sight with a thermal imaging and laser rangefinder channel. The sight, stabilized in two planes, received a guided weapon guidance channel.
The armament of the combat module is represented by the 2A42 automatic cannon and a twin machine gun. The Berezhka arsenal also includes an AG-17 automatic grenade launcher and launchers of the Kornet anti-tank missile system.
In August, the holding company "High-Precision Complexes" of the Rostec State Corporation announced a demonstration of the BMP-3 with the Berezhok combat module. The updated weapons system was installed as part of the modernization of the machine.
