MOSCOW, January 20. /tass/. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the armed forces in 2021 received more than 5,000 new and upgraded weapons, military and special equipment.
"Among them are 900 armored combat vehicles, three modern submarines, including the nuclear submarine Prince Oleg, armed with Bulava ballistic missiles, four surface ships, 10 combat boats, 17 vessels and support boats," Shoigu said on Thursday, opening a single day of acceptance of military products.
According to him, 151 units of new and modernized aviation equipment have been received from the industry, including 77 aircraft, 29 helicopters, 45 complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles.
"Four upgraded Tu-95MS missile carriers, three Bastion coastal missile systems, Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems, S-400 Triumph and S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile systems," the minister listed, speaking about the results of the past year.
"The equipment of the army and navy with modern weapons has increased to 71.2%, and the strategic nuclear forces - to 89.1%. The serviceability of military equipment is maintained at 95%," the minister said. He noted that the new military equipment coming from industry is "intensively exploited and has proven itself well during various combat readiness checks, exercises, trainings, military-applied competitions."
Speaking about the results of 2021, Shoigu recalled, in particular, that the rearmament of the first regiment to the Avangard missile system with intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped with hypersonic gliding cruise blocks has been completed. "A separate aviation regiment has been formed, armed with MiG-31I aircraft with a hypersonic Dagger missile," the Defense Minister said.
Working in a pandemic
He noted that the proper work has been done under the conditions of restrictions related to COVID-19. "Despite the restrictions associated with coronavirus infection, reliable and proper work of industrial enterprises and military authorities has been organized, the set pace of implementation of the state defense order has been ensured," the minister stated.
At the meeting on Thursday, he said, the results of the acceptance and admission to the troops in 2021 of weapons and military equipment, as well as the completion of the construction of infrastructure facilities will be summed up.
