Popular Mechanics: the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov is used as a symbol of the revival of Russia
In the publication of the American magazine Popular Mechanics, the only Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov is called a symbol of the revival of Russia.
The publication notes that the ship, built in the Soviet Union, and currently under repair, was used as a symbol of Russia's revival on the world stage, in particular, to demonstrate the country's flag and during the combat campaign in Syria.
The magazine claims that the aircraft carrier with a displacement of 58 thousand tons is the largest such ship with a non-atomic power plant. The publication notes that the Admiral Kuznetsov is a "theoretically combat-ready ship" capable of accommodating up to 24 Su-33 and MiG-29K fighters and six helicopters.
The magazine calls the only Russian aircraft carrier unlucky. "The ship is nearing the completion of many years of modernization and should return to the fleet at the end of 2023," the publication says.
In December 2019, in the American magazine The National Interest, the only Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov was called a piece of rust.
