The State Commission is considering the issue of postponing the launch of the Angara-A5 heavy launch vehicle, which had previously failed. The launch from the Plesetsk cosmodrome may be postponed to December 25. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to sources in the rocket and space industry.
"Currently, a state commission is working at the Plesetsk cosmodrome, which is studying the reasons for the cancellation of the launch on Friday and decides on the possibility of launching the Angara-A5 launch vehicle on Saturday," the agency source said.
He added that the launch was canceled by the automation of the launch complex. Experts determine the reasons for the cancellation.
Earlier, the administration of the Kargasoksky district of the Tomsk region reported that the third launch of the Angara-A5 rocket in seven years is scheduled for December 23. The reserve date is December 24. Before that, the rocket was launched in 2014 and 2020.
In December 2020, Angara-A5 launched 2.4 tons of cargo into geostationary orbit during a test launch.
