Commander of the Air Force Chaiko: the first Su-57 will enter the Air Force in 2022
The troops of the Eastern Military District (VVO) will receive the first fifth-generation Su-57 fighters in 2022. The timing of the aircraft arrival was announced by the commander of the Air Defense Forces, Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko, during the final board of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. "The re-equipment of the district's troops will continue next year. In particular, it is planned to receive a modernized brigade set of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system, Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems, Mi-28NM attack helicopters and the first units of the newest Su-57 fighters," the head of the Air Defense Ministry said.
He noted that in 2021, the Air Defense forces received more than 800 units of modern weapons. Bastion coastal missile systems, upgraded T-80BVM tanks and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles were handed over to the military. According to Colonel-General Chaiko, the share of modern models of equipment in the Air Defense forces is 56 percent.
