Russian specialists have completed tests of the new Altius-RU reconnaissance and strike UAV. The device was partially unified with the famous Orion, which has already been adopted.
TASS reported on the completion of tests of the newest unmanned vehicle "Altius-RU" with reference to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The Altius is a long-range heavy UAV. It can carry a variety of payloads, including weapons. The first use of weapons by a new drone became known in June. The tests were conducted at one of the military training grounds.
The UAV was equipped with a universal complex of weapons, which has already found application on the Orion drone. Altius is capable of using free-falling and correctable small-caliber bombs, as well as guided missiles.
The take-off weight of the Altius is approximately six tons. The UAV can take a payload whose mass exceeds a ton. The basis of the power plant is two turboprop engines.
