The Russian-made Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes, which are in service with the Syrian government forces, have shown high efficiency in defeating militant drones. Since the beginning of the campaign, they have destroyed more than 40 Turkish drones of various types.
Major General Alexander Novikov reported on the air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel that the Russian Pantsir-S1 complexes destroyed more than 40 Turkish Anka heavy drones and Bayraktar attack drones.
The TV also showed the Bayraktar drone shot down in Idlib province, which illegally entered the zone of Syrian government forces. At the same time, the head of the Department for the construction and development of the system for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces noted that Syrian forces and air defense systems control the airspace and flights of Turkish drones from the moment of takeoff and landing.
Recall that since the campaign, Russia has supplied Syria with 36 Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. Most of them are focused on the protection of the airspace of Damascus and the surrounding areas.
Russian ZRPC are armed with 12 57E6M-E missiles and paired rapid-firing 30 mm guns. The new radar is capable of detecting various targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles at low altitudes. The arsenal of the "Shell" allows, in any weather, to destroy any existing means of air attack at a range of up to 20 kilometers and at altitudes of up to 15 kilometers.
