The contract worth more than $ 93 million was awarded to General Dynamics Land Systems. The publication notes that now in the United States, Abrams tanks are being upgraded to the M1A2 SEP V3 (M1A2C) level. Also in development is a package of modernization of the machine to the level of M1A2 SEP V4.
In 2020, there were 2,389 main battle tanks in the United States. This number includes 1605 "Abrams" M1A2 SEP V2 and more than 34 machines of the M1A2 SEP V3 level. The first pictures of the upgraded tank appeared in 2019. The car received additional booking, dynamic protection, new shells and the Trophy active protection complex.
