India will begin mass production of the BrahMos rocket for the air carrier
Tests of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the Su-30MKI aircraft have been completed in India. Successful tests make it possible to start mass production of a version of the ammunition for air carriers. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of India.
A rocket was launched from a Su-30MKI fighter at a test site in Chandipur on Wednesday. The message noted that the rocket flew along the planned trajectory. The tests confirmed the declared characteristics of the ammunition.
The BrahMos supersonic anti-ship missile was developed by specialists of the Military Industrial Complex NPO Mashinostroeniya and the Defense Research and Development Organization of the Ministry of Defense of India. The rocket is produced at the joint Russian-Indian enterprise BrahMos Aerospace.
In February, The Drive edition reported on a promising missile for the Russian Su-57 fighter. The publication suggested that hypersonic weapons could be based on the Russian-Indian BrahMos-II missile.
In 2019, India tested a version of the rocket for air carriers for the first time. BrahMos successfully hit a target off the coast of Odisha. The range of the missile is 300 kilometers.
