The appearance of calculations of the Bastion coastal missile system (DBK) in the Kuril Islands became possible after Russian specialists managed to solve problems with the water supply of the military camp. This explanation was given by journalist Alexander Kotz in his Telegram channel.
According to him, five years ago he spent about a month on the island of Matua, where the "Bastions" are now located. Then the Russian military was engaged in a large-scale exploration of the island, studying the engineering structures left there after the Japanese. In particular, Kotz suggested, experts were trying to find out how the water supply of the Japanese garrison, which was located on Matua during the Second World War, was carried out at one time.
"Because if you put a base here, you need water. Apparently, they solved this Japanese riddle," the journalist concluded.
Earlier on December 2, it became known that on the Kuril island of Matua, the calculations of the Bastion DBK of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) were deployed for the first time and went on duty. It was reported that an autonomous military camp was deployed on the territory of the island, suitable for year-round service and accommodation of personnel.
As military expert Viktor Litovkin explained, the "Bastions" on Matua will ensure the protection of Russian waters.
